Phonyx Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
Phonyx: Phone Test & Tips ("Phonyx") is made by Workaholic Developers, the data controller for the little data described here. Phonyx is built to know your phone without knowing you. This policy covers the Phonyx app for iPhone and Android and the website https://phonyx.wdlab.app.
The short version
- No account. You never sign up or log in.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking. Phonyx contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs, and the website sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts or fonts.
- Everything stays on your phone unless you tap Create report.
- A report contains device facts and test results only. Never your IMEI, serial number, phone number, name, location, photos or recordings.
What stays on your phone
Your checkups and their results, your phone's specs, your speed test history, the battery log, your tip bookmarks and your settings are stored only on your phone. We cannot see them. Deleting the app deletes them.
Used-phone reports (only when you tap Create report)
When you tap Create report, the app uploads one report to our server. It contains exactly these fields (report schema 1):
- Report details: seller or buyer mode, the app version and platform.
- Device: platform, manufacturer, model name and model identifier, system name and version, chip, CPU cores, RAM, total and free storage, screen size, resolution and refresh rate, number of rear and front cameras.
- Battery: charge level and state; on Android also battery condition, cycle count and temperature; the battery health percentage only if you typed it in from Settings.
- Checkup: when it started and finished, the Health Score and grade, the number of tests, a score per category, and each test's result (pass, fail, skipped or not available) with a short detail such as "Accuracy 6 m".
- Buyer checklist (optional): your answers (yes, no, unsure, n/a) to checks such as "IMEI matches the box". The answer is stored, never the IMEI itself.
A report never contains your IMEI, serial number, phone number, name, email, contacts, location or coordinates, photos, camera images, audio recordings or advertising identifiers. Phonyx does not read your IMEI or serial number at all.
Our server checks the report, adds the time, signs it so anyone can tell if it was changed, and gives the app a short code, a link and a QR code.
- Who can see it: a report is public to anyone who has its link or code. It is not listed anywhere and the page asks search engines not to index it. Share it only with people you want to see it.
- How long it lasts: you choose 7, 30 or 90 days. After it expires the page says so, and the report is erased from our server 7 days later.
- Deleting it: you can delete a report from the app at any time. The app keeps a secret delete token for each report (our server stores only a scrambled hash of it), and deletion erases the report immediately.
Abuse reports
Anyone can flag a public report as fake, possibly stolen, showing personal information, offensive or otherwise wrong. We store the reason, the optional details you type (up to 500 characters) and a salted, one-way hash of your IP address, which lets us count how many different networks flagged a report without storing the address itself. Abuse reports are erased after 30 days. We never show them to the report's owner. When several different networks flag the same report, it is hidden until we have reviewed it.
Speed test
The speed test measures your connection against our server by downloading and uploading random data. It sends nothing about you or your phone, and our server stores nothing from it: uploaded data is counted and thrown away, and speed test requests are not written to our access logs. Your results and history stay on your phone.
Server logs
Like every web server, ours briefly keeps standard technical logs of other requests (IP address, time, address requested, browser or app version) to keep the service running and secure. These logs are deleted automatically after 14 days and are never used to profile anyone.
Permissions and sensors
Phonyx asks for each permission with its own explanation first, and uses it only on your phone, only for the test you are running:
- Camera: shows a live preview so you can check each lens, the flash and focus. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent.
- Microphone: records a 3-second clip per microphone so you can hear it back. The clip is deleted right after playback and never leaves your phone.
- Location (while using the app): takes one GPS fix to show its accuracy. The position is never stored, shown or sent; only the accuracy (for example "Accuracy 6 m") can appear in a report.
- Bluetooth: checks that the radio works. Phonyx does not scan for or connect to other devices.
- Motion and fitness (iPhone): reads the barometer and motion sensors for their tests, only while the test is on screen.
- Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint: asks the system to confirm the sensor works. Phonyx never sees your biometric data; it only learns whether the check succeeded.
Notifications
The optional daily tip is a local notification scheduled on your phone. It is off by default, and no push service or server is involved.
Children
Phonyx is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent or share data with anyone. Report pages are seen only by the people you share the link or code with. We would disclose a report or abuse record only if required by law.
Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Reports are signed with Ed25519, and every report page checks the signature again each time it is opened. Delete tokens and IP addresses are stored only as one-way hashes.
Your rights
Because Phonyx has no accounts and we hold no personal profiles, there is usually nothing to access or correct. You can delete any report from the app at any time. For anything else, including a report you cannot delete yourself, write to us and we will help.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, mention it in the app.
