Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't Phonyx show battery health or the IMEI on my iPhone?

Apple doesn't let any app read the battery health percentage, the IMEI or the serial number. You can see them yourself:

On Android, Phonyx shows the battery condition and temperature, and the charge cycle count on Android 14 and later. Phonyx never reads the IMEI or serial number on any phone.

How do I verify a report someone sent me?

Open the link, scan the QR code, or enter the 8-character code (for example K7M2-Q9XA) in "Verify a report" on https://phonyx.wdlab.app. A green Signature verified seal means the report is exactly as our server signed it. Signature check failed means it was changed: don't rely on it.

The page shows the digest, key id and signature, so you can also check a report offline with the public key from https://phonyx.wdlab.app/api/v1/reports/key. A verified report proves the data wasn't changed, not that the phone is in perfect shape today: always look at the phone yourself before you pay.

How do I delete a report?

In Phonyx, open the Report tab, choose the report and tap Delete. It disappears from our server at once. Expired reports are erased automatically 7 days after they expire. If you no longer have the phone that created a report, email us the code and we will help.

Why do some tests show N/A or "Not available on this phone"?

Not every phone has every part: no headphone jack, no barometer, no NFC or no telephoto camera, for example. Phonyx says so plainly instead of guessing, and those tests don't count towards the Health Score. Simulators and emulators have no real sensors, so most tests show N/A there.

Why was a test skipped?

You can skip any test, for example when you can't plug in a charger right now. Skipped tests don't count towards the Health Score; when fewer than half of the planned tests count, the grade shows as "Partial check".

Does Phonyx collect my data?

No account, no ads, no tracking. Everything stays on your phone unless you create a report. See the Privacy Policy.

Something on a report page looks wrong or fake

Use the Report abuse link at the bottom of the report page. When several people flag the same report it is hidden until we have reviewed it.
